  2. Integrated

  3. Your moment of zzzzzzhhen

Integrated

I keep getting reminded that here in America we have created a totally disjointed musical situation for ourselves, but it’s ot like this elsewhere in the world.

In Brazil, people still sing in the streets together. Folks who build houses for a living - no matter where they live - usually get together to jam at night. Europe might be full of conservatories, but it’s also full of working people with normal jobs who get together and play string quartets for fun.

Like ya do..

It’s not all about the gig or making a record. Music is a practice of self-integration, connection, health and adventure. Why do I keep practicing and exploring when the gigs dry up? Because my aliveness demands it.

I gather my sound and make my offering. To not do so would open my days up to unbearable sameness, disconnect and disease.

So let’s keep playing.

Your moment of zen

Big love to your ears.

Play It Like It's Music
Purists may whine that the best days of music are behind us, that capital “M” music has seen its peak and is no longer relevant. But here at Play It Like It's Music we believe the opposite: not only is the act of musicmaking an essential life skill with a lineage stretching back to the beginnings of human history, but the vocation of the professional musician is more vital today than it ever has been. Once a month, join musician, songwriter and producer Trevor Exter as he drops in on working musicians from every genre.
