It bears reminding that many of us (if some of you are like me) found music as a place to hide in our more vulnerable years.
At 13, 14 I just wanted to disappear into the music, to hide inside a sound cocoon because the world did not feel safe.
The world doesn’t feel any safer today, but along the way I had to stop imagining music as a distinct, safe hiding place.
Because if you’re doing Music honestly, you’ll find that not only is the big world staring you in the face while you do it, but it’s demanding more honesty and guts out of you than you thought you’d need.
Gotta be brave about your choices here in this music world.
